Triggers are the starting point of every automation. They define the event that kicks off your flow. DreamFlow offers 10+ trigger types so you can automate responses to virtually any event in your CRM.
Available Trigger Types
Contact Triggers
- Contact Created — Fires when a new contact is added (via form, import, API, or manual entry). Use the source filter to narrow it down.
- Contact Updated — Fires when a specific field changes. Example: trigger when "Lead Score" exceeds 80.
- Tag Added — Fires when a specific tag is applied to a contact. Example: trigger when "VIP" tag is added.
- Tag Removed — Fires when a specific tag is removed from a contact.
Deal Triggers
- Deal Created — Fires when a new deal is created in any pipeline.
- Deal Stage Changed — Fires when a deal moves to a specific stage. Example: trigger when a deal enters "Proposal Sent".
- Deal Won — Fires when a deal is marked as won. Great for post-sale onboarding flows.
- Deal Lost — Fires when a deal is marked as lost. Useful for re-engagement campaigns.
Form Triggers
- Form Submitted — Fires when any (or a specific) form receives a submission. Similar to "Contact Created" but specifically for form events.
Time-Based Triggers
- Date Field Reached — Fires on or before a date stored on the contact record. Example: trigger 7 days before a contract renewal date.
- Inactivity Trigger — Fires when a contact has had no activity (emails opened, calls, tasks) for a specified period. Great for re-engagement.
Communication Triggers
- Email Opened — Fires when a contact opens a specific email or any email.
- Email Link Clicked — Fires when a contact clicks a link in an email.
- SMS Received — Fires when an inbound SMS is received from a contact.
Trigger Filters
Most triggers support filters to narrow when they fire:
- Source filter — Restrict to specific creation sources (form, import, API, manual).
- Field filter — Only trigger when specific field values match (e.g., industry = "SaaS").
- Tag filter — Only trigger for contacts with or without specific tags.
- Pipeline filter — Restrict deal triggers to a specific pipeline.
